Plan International Nepal implemented Girls Advocacy Alliance (GAA) program for the period from 2016 to 2020 in 9 districts (Morang, Sunsari, Sindhuli, Makwanpur, Dolakha, Myagdi, Bardiya, Banke and Kailali). It worked with different Ministries, departments and private sector organizations. The main goal of the project was to create favorable environment for girls and young women which will be free of Gender Based Violence (GBV) (especially Child Marriage and Sexual Abuse) with decent economic opportunities and dignified life. The objective were:

  • To map out existing policies, strategies, plans and programs of Nepal government related to Harmful Traditional Practices (HTP) including Gender Based Violence (GBV).
  • To access the intervention carried out by Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for influencing government agenda to address girls and young women’s issues.
  • To identify status of conducive workplaces and opportunities to promote economic empowerment of young women by government and private sectors.
  • To determine the level of involvement of key leaders (community leader, religious leader) to address girls and young women’s issues.
