Plan International Nepal’s project “Empower Girls” sought to address the gaps in education, both formal and non-formal, and economic opportunities for girls aged 8-19 years. It mainly focused on marginalized adolescent girls, whereas some younger girls and some boys were also targeted through scholarship support.

The project has three main components

  • Life skill education
  • Scholarship support
  • Support for enterprise development or for employment

The project aimed for girls and young women from marginalized and socially excluded communities in Sindhuli district to gain respect and equality through education and economic means, where they would be able to contribute to their family income through self or waged employment. Furthermore, the project also tried to attract out of school children through scholarship support.
