The American Red Cross Nepal Delegation in consortium with Spanish Red Cross (SpRC), Canadian Red Cross, under the umbrella of IFRC Country Office Nepal, along with Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) implemented a three-year post-earthquake integrated recovery program (Utthan) in nineteen VDCs and one municipality of Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Makwanpur in 3 phases.

The project was targeted to the vulnerable earthquake-affected households and communities. The objective of the project was to increase the ability of these vulnerable groups to self-organize and take actions to recover quicker and build back safer by adopting improved resilience practice, and to increase their access to safe and sustainable infrastructure and basic services to meet their household needs. In this first phase, the intervention intended to offer cash for work programs and construction or reconstruction of infrastructure. The program helped in technical and human resource support in increasing capacity to facilitate community-based, gender sensitive recovery, resilience, disaster risk reduction, and readiness to respond.

The mobile data collection aspect of the study was supported by Pathway Technologies and Services.
